The organization hierarchy is the setting with the broadest impact in Teachme MySkill. Please configure it first.
What the organization hierarchy determines
The organization hierarchy determines the following four things simultaneously.
- Skill distribution scope…You specify an organization as the Audience for a skill Folder
- Approver candidates…Approvers are collected by tracing up from the applicant's Organization to higher-level organizations
- Approver visibility scope…Members of your own Organization and its Descendant organizations are visible
- Analytics aggregation scope…An organization and its descendants are aggregated together
For this reason, changing the organization hierarchy after the fact will also affect approval workflows and visibility scopes.
Points to consider when designing
- Will the approval workflow function properly?…Verify that the structure places someone who can approve above each organization
- Does it match the unit you want to aggregate?…If you want to compare by location or department, divide organizations by those units
- Does it align with the skill distribution unit?…Configuration becomes easier when the range over which the same skill set is distributed is consolidated into a single organization
Organization Group
This is a unit for handling multiple organizations together. Use it when you want to distribute skills across a cross-sectional grouping separate from the organization hierarchy. This setting is optional.
Notes
If Users belong directly under a Group rather than an organization, no parent organization exists, so no Approver candidates will be found. Make sure all learners belong to an organization.
